Choose the Right Gutter Style for Your Home
When you are preparing to replace the gutters on your home, style is a critical consideration. With a wide range of styles and colors available, we can help you choose gutters that will complement your home.
OGEE or K-style gutters are the most popular gutter style used with contemporary architecture. They are ideal for homes with a flat fascia. These gutters resemble crown molding with a double curve that resembles an elongated “S” when viewed from the side. The industry standard for OGEE gutters is 5″, but 6″ is recommended for houses with large or steeply-pitched roofs.
Straight Faced Gutters
If you want to give your home a more distinctive look, consider straight faced gutters. These custom gutters provide a clean, tailored profile that works well on modern homes. However, they will work on just about any type of architecture.
We offer straight faced gutters in either aluminum or Galvalume. Both are available in a variety of colors.
Aluminum is by far the most common material for all types of gutters. Aluminum does not rust, is lightweight and weather-resistant.
Galvalume is steel coated with aluminum and zinc. It is a long-lasting material whose lifetime can be up to nine times that of galvanized steel. It is not recommended for use around concrete or mortar as their alkaline qualities will hasten corrosion.
Elegant half round gutters are often used in the restoration of historical buildings. They were first used in the early 1900s when metal roll forming machines were introduced. These gutters are the best choice for an authentic period look for any home built in the first half of the 20th century.
You don’t need to be a preservationist to use half round gutters. They will add an old world flair and style to your newer home’s exterior. Their distinctive look works particularly well with Mission tile roofs.
